In the 1960s, the United States made 98 percent of its shoes. Today, 98 percent of all shoes sold in the U.S. are imported, despite consumer interest in buying locally manufactured products. Many fashion companies still conveniently ascribe to an out-of-sight, out-of-mind mentality when it comes to overseas factories and turn a blind eye to child labor and unsafe working conditions. At HOPP, we are dedicated to supporting U.S.-made slow fashion—making quality goods at a fair price that offer a more timeless alternative to fleeting, disposable trends.
And of course, we’re also passionate about quality and comfort. Our shoes are made using comfort technology such as lightweight, flexible molded soles, padded upper linings, and leather footbeds with arch support. We aim to create shoes that are effortless, modern, versatile classics meant to be worn for years—the antithesis of fast fashion—while also integrating all the components of true comfort footwear.
We're also able to make this claim because of where our shoes are made: by San Antonio Shoemakers, which has crafted women's and men's footwear in Texas since 1976. SAS is committed to quality, innovation, and comfort. They are proud to be one of the few U.S. shoe manufacturers to preserve American shoemaking.
